Toast and dance with the artists involved in Luminous Flux, as all participating VJs take turns doing live sets, and we present some special performances we've been saving up till the last night.

Anonymous Ensemble

Anonymous Ensemble is a Brooklyn based troupe of theatre artists, musicians, dancers and technicians. Founded in 2001, the ensemble has produced theatre in rock venues, theaters and festivals from Manhattan to Brisbane to Berlin to Edinburgh. AnEn cultivates a "rock show" dynamic between the performers and the audience by utilizing rocking live music, cutting edge electronic music, live video manipulation, web based mediums, dance, circus and drama.

Freebass*BK

Freebass is a Bass, Bass, Bass, Bass, Bass, Bass, Bass, and Laptop duo from Brooklyn New York.

Created as a collaboration between beat producer and celebrated maven of the underground DJ Shakey and low frequency impresario Aaroneous, Freebass*BK has been decimating soundsystems from Brooklyn to Pluto with its blend of globe hopping beats and psychedelic multi-instrumental space-bass.

Produced on the spot with live recording / multitracking / remixing / and FX by Shakey and her myriad of custom controllers, and performed by Aaroneous on a dizzying array of bass instruments from around the world, including Mexican Guitarron, Morrocan Sintir, Bowed Upright, Bass Harmonica, Baritone Electric Sitar, Beatbox Sousaphone, Bass Mouth Harp, Fretless Electric Dub Bass, and standard electric bass, a Freebass*BK performance strides the tightrope-taught line between digital and analog, electronic and organic, ecstatic and exhilarating.

CHiKA, live VJ set

CHiKA is a live media artist working in the international VJ and experimental music scene. Her performances vary from minimalist geometric patterns to unique compositions overflowing with a variety of forms and color.

She has performed at The Museum of Modern Art, The Hammer Museum, Mutek, The Mapping Festival, Decibel, Platform Bohenstrasses, Théâtre Maisonneuve, Asia Contemporary Week, San Francisco Art Institute, Eyebeam, Monkeytown, The Issue Project Room, Galapagos Art Space, Tonic, Eyewash, as well as private parties, festivals, events, galleries and nightclubs.

Since CHiKA started performing live in the summer of 2004, she has become very active in the experimental music and video underground scene in NYC. She is a member of the Share community, a weekly multimedia open jam. Her work was featured Club Chroma on Joost and Eyewash 3 DVD by Forward Motion Theater. She is recently became a resident VJ at monthly event, "The future is beautiful."

Nathan Guisinger & Jordann Baker, "Pillar"

Nathan Guisinger is a founding member of the international theater company The South Wing, a member of HERE's Artist Residency Program (HARP), 2008-2009.

Pillar: an aerial dance and interactive video performance based on the classic illustrated book, 'Hope for the Flowers', and inspired by Nathan Guisinger's experience working with the Balinese shadow puppet dalang, I Wayan Wija. Nathan is joined by the aerialist Jordann Baker in exploring the themes of this tale by Trina Paulus, incorporating interactive video projections with the dynamics of the dance.

Jordann Baker's work combines grace and raw athleticism into stunning aerial performance. Her performances on silks, trapeze and lyra are as elegant as they are dramatic, as this 5'10" performer effortlessly dances in the air.

Jordann teaches weekly aerial classes to over 65 students of all ages and backgrounds. Recently, Jordann has choreographed aerial pieces for The Alchemy of Light by Ruth Sergel and assistant choreographed a piece in collaboration Parsons Dance and the East Village Opera Company. In March of 2008, Jordann wrote, produced, choreographed and directed AHOY!, an aquatic aerial experience.

She has trained with Elsie & Serenity Smith, Kevin O'Connor, Jacinthe Tremblay and performed in places like The Zipper Theater, Speigeltent, Mansion, S.L.A.M, Galapagos Art Space, the House of Yes and in El Salvador. Her choreography has appeared at the Joyce and HERE theaters. Jordann is an integral member and collaborating artist at the House of Yes.

Pixalot, live DJ/VJ set

Pixalot/Stephen Dirkes studied classical music composition at the Royal Conservatory of Music Toronto, University of Toronto and the University of Michigan before establishing music production studios, scoring film and television in Seoul, Korea, Jakarta, Indonesia and Prague, Czech Republic.

Since founding Labtest media art collective in 2004 to create a VJ performance commissioned for "Hipersonica" international VJ festival in Sao Paulo, Brasil, Stephen's films and media installations have been exhibited in New York, Prague, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Jakarta and Havana as both solo shows and international festivals.

For this event, VJ talEvision joins VJ PIxalot for live "Ragga vs Robots" live VJ set.

NOVA, live VJ set

NOVA is an experimental filmmaker from Colorado who now lives in Brooklyn. As co-founder of Dawn of Man Productions, NOVA works every day to create intense and thought-provoking media. Whether Psychedelic, abstract, or live-action, all of NOVA's projections are original creations.
